Mutually Exclusive Group Set
Mutually exclusive groups are sets of user groups where membership in one group prevents membership in another to avoid conflicts, redundancy, or unintended privilege escalation.
In the context of Hire2Retire, mutually exclusive groups ensure that when an employee is assigned a new group that conflicts with an existing one, the system automatically resolves the conflict based on predefined rules. This prevents duplicate privileges, avoids unnecessary licensing costs, and ensures that only the correct group remains assigned.
Note- This is an optional step, and is present on Group Membership step. You can skip this step if you do not want to add any group set by clicking on the Save & Next button.
How to create a Mutually Exclusive Group set?¶
When you are on Group Membership step you will see a section under the heading Add Mutually Exclusive Group Set. This section represents a rule based on which groups can be assigned into a set.
Following are the steps to create a group set:
-
Enter a Group Set Name:
- Type a name that clearly describes the purpose of the group set (e.g., "Office 365 License Groups").

- Lower Priority → The group with the lowest priority remains.
